Reasons to Read Outside of School
With some students easily overwhelmed by how much reading they are required to do for school, many may be put off of reading extracurricularly. With reading being such a fundamental skill in an individual’s life, students may be missing out on a few important benefits should they choose not to do this outside of school. Reading outside of school can help a student stay engaged while learning to analyze the material they are reading. Having them read literature they have an interest in allows them to develop these analytical skills at their own pace, motivated by their own interest in the subject or novel rather than by academic success alone.
